Glendalough 2007
Allan thinks this must be one of the most beautiful spots on earth. He says he kept expecting to see a hobbit peek out from behind a tree. One thing you probably cannot tell from watching this is how completely exhausted we were. We'd come here straight from an 11 hour flight from Los Angeles to Dublin, followed by a stressful drive on the wrong side of the road from the wrong side of a rental car. But it was worth it. Glendalough has two spectacular lakes and 11th Century Monastic ruins. The monks used to take shelter from marauding Vikings by climbing up into the round tower and pulling up the ladder. It's a spot of great natural beauty, and we will have to return another time when we are not so tired!
